Rock and Roll Starts Early

Fiona bangs out some power chords before getting into her lessons. While her execution lacks some precision, her raw emotion and unbridaled passion reminded this listener of a young (female) Pete Townsend.
The Groundskeepers Prepare the Green

A long season of exuberant dog play have left the deck carpets coated in fur. Professionals (Jiro Tulley and his brother) are called in for some emergency maintenence work.
Piper Checks for Divots

While Jiro and Gever struggle to keep the Bissel Sweeper going, Piper (and Fiona) collect pine needles and fix loose threads.
The Last Todo List

After months of esoteric todo lists with items like "figure out over-arching theme for session1" and "collect project ideas on basecamp," it all comes down to this last list on the morning of the first day... easy-peasy.
A Brief Foray Into the Barber Arts

With some encouragement from Robyn, Fiona and Piper cut (really, it's more like mowing) Gever's hair.
Or is it the Barbaric Arts?

By dividing his head along the axial bisector, they manage to share the task equally.
Lunch for One, Lunch for All

Julie is obviously having two giant boxes of grapes, Fiona has a huge bowl of tangerines, Piper has two PB&J's, and Robyn and Gever split a one pound block of cheese - something for everyone to enjoy.
Fiona's Advice

It has been determined that the ramp up to the deck is no longer safe for daily use. Piper volunteers to write "Do Not Walk Up" on the board that Gever is going to use to block access. "Write bigger," says Fiona, from the comfort of the newly erected hammock.
It Takes Two

How many tinker girls in matching denim uniforms does it take to inflate Robyn's air matress?
It Doesn't Look Good For the Patient

While the exact cause of the illness was never accurately determined, a course of action has been decided and Doctors Piper and Fiona decide that the only reasonable course of action is to open up the Patient (one per doctor) immediately.
I Stab At Thee

Some patients just don't know what's good for them and they may resist the ministrations of the Doctor. In these cases, it is best to overpower the confused patient and admister the cure directly and with all due force.
Heart of the Matter

Doctor Fiona, having worked her way through the onionskin-like layers of the outer case, discovers the beating (whirling) heart of the floppy disc drive, and removes it with a pair of wire cutters so that all may look upon it's coppery symmetry.
More Springs?

Working from a different hypothesis, Doctor Piper (under the watchful eye of Robyn) jiggles loose yet another pesky spring. "It's infested with 'em!" she declares.
To the Testing Tank

We pick up our story again, after many arrivals and some quality tinkering, to find our intrepid gang of tinkerers getting ready to put their new wind-up boats/submarines to the test.
Tank Washing

It appears that pollen and dew have colluded to create a pesky scum on the testing apparatus. Copius application of water and some light scrubbing do the trick.
The Joy of Spectacular Failure

Nikhil and Piper marvel at the boisterous splashing and spinning that his boat displays when first let loose in the tank.
Sinking The Boat

Realizing that the boat works better when the propeller is completely under the water, Tywen wastes no time in completely submerging his vessel.
The Moment

There is a wonderful moment when the boat is fully wound up, the waters are calm, and the air is thick with anticipation - anything seems possible. Will it shoot down the track like a rocket, or spray water like a fountain? Who knows? Let's see...
The Reincarnation of King Ozzie

Before releasing his kingly watercraft (the only one with an on-board bench), Ozzie regales the crowd with a description of just what a once-in-a-lifetime spectacle they are about to witness.
The Moment #2

The boat is wound, the water is still, and Ozzie sees the finish line ahead in perfect clarity.
New Thinking in Deck Design

Liberal application of styrofoam - that's Harlo's solution to some tricky propeller issues.
The Moment #3

Fully wound boat? Check. Still waters? Check? Clear eye on the future? Check. All systems are go.
Recap

Sure we did some tinkering, but we also died... (hey, it wasn't my idea).
