Session C: Day 7 - And it all comes down

It works! The elevator lifts, the rock walls are claimable, the draw bridge drops, the Mario boxes are fun to jump on and the rope bridge bears weight.

Sadly our staff was too soaked up in monitoring safety and having fun to snap any photos in the morning. If you have any, let us know and send them to info@tinkeringschool.com.

And in a little over an our, everything we’ve worked to hard to make disappears back into piles of wood, ready for another project, as everyone gets to hear josh lecture, yet again, "Tinkering School is about making stuff, not having stuff."

Session C: Day 6 - A Long Day and a Rush to Finish

How big is this thing? will our plans to get down work? Will it be dangerous? Will the elevator really happen?

So many questions float in our brains as we trying and wrap our head around the scale of the thing we are making. To let it sink in deeply, we start the day with a group meeting on top of the structure. There are ukulele jams, and safety talks, a quick pep-rally moment as we start our last full day of work.

As the day moves forward the rope bridge gets a redesign, the rope wall starts to bear weight, the rock wall go up, a draw bridge/door takes shape, and boxes looking like a mario level get painted.

Along the way we discover that people in carts become bossy, Sayer is a champion-level napper, and spray paint is hard. We only stop because the sun mandates that the project is over.

Be sure click the photos to make them big

Session C: Day 4 - Beach Day

A day without many photos. The morning started with a small but important project of building scaffolding so we can keep working on our 8ft high outer walls. By 11:30 we where getting ready for a new experiment. The beach across the street is lovely, local, scenic and so many things. But the sand is steep at the water edge and after wading just a few feet in it is often too deep and too dangerous to play in. So today we hopped on the Samtrans and rode to Lindemar, one of the safest most fun beaches around. We had so much fun we forgot to take many photos. But there was face painting, wave-fighting, wonderful games off over/under, learning how to wield bull-whip kelp the hard way.

If your curious what we've been up to head on over to our flickr where a major uploading is happening as I type. Hundreds of photos from the first few days are up already.

We try and make sure not a single screw every touches the grass to keep our selves and others safe. But mistakes happen, and big magnetic broom is used to make sure we catch those mistakes.

By 12:40pm we are on the bus headed to a totally different kind of beach day.

The water is calm and cold. The tide is low. We played hard and didn't get a single photo after this one.
