Dessert World! - Day 1 - Week 3 (Mark Day School)

We are off to a good start on our weeklong adventure into our imagination! The theme is Dessert World, which we all agree is way better than desert world (one has cakes, one has cactuses! ).

The morning began with an orientation to our space and the Summer Tinkering goals. For us the goals set the tone and give us something important to reference that is bigger than the creations we are trying to make. Importantly, our goals do not include finishing the project. It really is about what we try, learn and feel along the way.

The Goals of Summer Tinkering:

  • Collaborate & make friends

  • Make mistakes and learn from them

  • Try harder than usual

  • Build something bigger than ourselves

We also spent a lot of the morning on tool training, getting to know the three main tools we’ll use: the chop saw, the drill and the clamps.

By the time the afternoon design and brainstorming session arrived, we were bursting with ideas for Dessert World! We even got some wood cut, ready for assembly tomorrow!
